Ir.Cnoc an Mhadaidh ‘hill of the dog’
Background
The origin of this townland is identified correctly in previous proposals as Cnoc an Mhadaidh ‘hill of the dog’. There are no eminences of note in the townland, but the name might be a borrowing. Alternatively, the hill in question might be a peak of 375ft in the adjacent townland of Dernaglug and Drumaa (OSNI).
