The surname Ó Dónaill ‘O’Donnell’ is of Donegal origin but it is attested in this area in the early 17th century. The hamlet of Tullydonnell is in the townland of TULLYDONNELL (O’CALLAGHAN) which is bordered on the south by TULLYDONNELL (GAGE) [Tulligonell 1609].
