Background

An Fás Glaiseach,, in Joyce’s translation ‘a streamy or watery wilderness’ < Nefaslashowe 1614.  The 1609 map has Faieglassagh, which could indicate ‘watery field’ (faiche) rather than ‘wilderness’.
