Lisglass, County Antrim
Origin
Ir. An Lios Glas ‘the green/grey fort’
Background
The element lios ‘fort’ typically refers to a ring-fort which is confirmed here by the appearance of a crop circle on OSNI maps. The adjective glas is interpreted as ‘green’ in modern Irish but can also mean ‘grey’ in place-names. There is also a Lisglass in Co. Derry and another in Co. Waterford (logainm.ie).
